Meet the Founder
Journalist, Editor, Publicist + Copywriter
Hi, I’m Kailen. I’m so happy you’ve found us.
I am a proud mom of two girls and two French Bulldogs (…also girls! I know, my poor husband, right?) Over the years, I’ve developed an immense passion for connecting women with the products and services they need to feel beautiful, healthy, and strong. I became known as the go-to for product and company recommendations and what better calling than to promote and advocate for female confidence? This is why I have dedicated my professional life to my amazing clients who share the same desire. When I have the chance to spread the word and amazing work of companies with a cause I believe it, it’s not really work at all, it’s a privilege to get to tell their story. It’s just an added bonus to be involved in moving the sales needle forward and propelling them to the next level.
From the beginning
I am a native of New Jersey (not the fist-bumping kind, I know that’s where your brain went) and a former Floridian for almost a decade. I have many years of experience under my belt, including nearly ten years with the Walt Disney Company and running a successful videography business prior to copywriting. Although my life hasn’t always gone as planned (I mean, whose does?), I’ve taken each opportunity as a chance to learn a new skill and harness its power to make it all work together.
Education
When I say I have an educational background that will make your head spin, I mean it! It’s unique but I wouldn’t have it any other way because it’s taught me so much about using my creative instincts, running a successful business, and harnessing the power of storytelling.
First, I received my BA in Broadcast Journalism from Montclair State University. I worked for some incredible companies in New York City after graduation, including MTV (I won’t age myself by telling you which shows I worked on) and HGTV/Style Network. Between school and work, I fell in love with the captivating art form of video editing and needed to lean into my passion more. I did an intensive program through Manhattan Edit Workshop, as well as certification from the New York Institute of Photography.
After running my own videography company for a little while, I found a love for editing film trailers, specifically behind-the-scenes “making of” films. This is where my education takes a strange turn…I decided to go to school for Special Effects makeup after seeing so much of it in my editing. Makeup Designory in New York helped me hone my skills and I fell in love once again. It may sound out of nowhere but to me, it still falls under the umbrella of creating art and telling a story. After working as a freelance makeup artist for a few years in the tri-state area, I ventured down to Florida to work for the mouse, where, you guessed it…I went back to school again! This time, to receive my Master’s in Public Relations from the University of Florida with a mission to work for companies to improve how they are perceived by the public. This is where I was introduced to the power of copywriting and the written word which led to the culmination of my life’s work and education.
Bringing it all together
As I look back, does it all look like a jumbled mess? Sure, to some it might. But to me, it’s my story, and each step taught me something that helped move me along my path. Broadcasting helped me learn the basics of organizational storytelling and the technical side of bringing it to life, video editing continued to teach me about storytelling by mixing audio and visuals in a compelling and captivating way. Effects makeup harnessed my creativity and satisfied my need to create something out of nothing. And then finally, Public Relations helped me learn how to write and communicate persuasively but ethically on behalf of companies I believe in. I don’t regret one second of my educational and work background, it’s my story, it’s what molded me into who I am and allows me to offer a truly unique perspective to my clients.
You have something unique to offer too, but maybe your audience hasn’t found you yet. That’s where I come in!
I can’t wait to help you tell your story!
